The Codorníu winery, located about 40 minutes from Barcelona, is an outstanding exapmle of "Modernist" architecture, whilst continuing to be a fully functioning winemaking facility. Designed by Puig í Cadalfach, a student of Antonio Gaudi, the winery is a National Monument of Historical Interest and receives over 150,000 visitors a year.
A visit to the winery is a wonderful half day trip from Barcelona. Here you can see the beautiful grounds and impressive architecture, including a fun trip down to the underground cellars. You´ll get to learn how they make Codorníu and you will get to enjouy a delicious glass of cava.
